Luxury Rentals Mexico: How to Avoid Getting Scammed

Mexico is a hot destination for those looking for a decent luxury vacation experience. This has also made it a hot spot for con artists looking to swindle unsuspecting vacationers of their hard earned cash. Due to this, it is of the utmost importance to be very cautious not to fall for the traps of the fake luxury rental in Mexico, to avoid losing your money, but also having a very bitter experience. Here is how to protect yourself from such scams:

Don’t trust the photographs

Photographs can be deceiving, and with the vast resources that are available throughout the internet, it is easy to get fooled with a photograph, and believe it is the real deal. To beat this trick by scammers, contact the owner or the agent of the luxury rental in Mexico, and request that they use technology such as Skype or FaceTime to show you around the property to confirm that it is indeed what you are seeing in the photographs. You can also use Google Earth Street View to confirm the existence of that property.

Don’t fall for cheap rentals

Luxury rentals in Mexico are supposed to be decently priced, and will never be advertised as “cheap”. If you suspect the price seems too good to be true, then they probably are. Be vigilant on price and ensure it reflects the rates of the luxury rentals in that area. Vacationers who are not savvy with the prices are the ones that get bitten almost all the time, but if you have an idea of what you are supposed to pay, you will always avoid such traps.

Use trusted local agents

Of course you will be expected to pay them, but they will save you a great deal of time and money. They will not just show you trusted listings, but also will go and have a look at properties you may have seen throughout the internet and needed to check out.
